Pregnancy Pilates
Looking for pregnancy Pilates in Athlone or Mullingar? Check out our FAQs below to learn more about our pregnancy-friendly Pilates classes, taught by qualified pre and postnatal instructors and how we support you to move safely and confidently through pregnancy.
-
Any pregnant clients who are new to our studio or new to Reformer Pilates are welcome in all of our Foundations Pilates classes, where every session is taught with pregnancy in mind. Our instructors will offer individual modifications whenever required, allowing you to work safely while still enjoying a challenging and rewarding class.
We also use specialised pregnancy wedges to support your comfort and enable many traditional Pilates exercises to be performed with minimal adjustment.
Always let your instructor know that you are pregnant at the start of class.

Exercise during pregnancy is not only safe for most people, but it’s highly beneficial and recommended.
Pilates, in particular, is a gentle yet effective way to support your changing body.
Some of the numerous benefits include: improved aerobic and muscular fitness, strengthening of the deep core and pelvic floor muscles (which can reduce back pain, improve posture, and support your growing bump), promotion of appropriate weight gain and facilitation of labour. Regular movement can also boost circulation, ease swelling, improve sleep, and enhance overall mood and energy levels.
Our classes are designed with pregnancy in mind, offering safe modifications and a focus on controlled, mindful movement.
As always, it’s important to check with your healthcare provider before starting or continuing any exercise routine during pregnancy, especially if you have any specific medical considerations.
-
All of our instructors are specifically trained in pregnancy Pilates and are capable of offering you any modifications you may need. Our priority is your safety and wellbeing and that of your baby also.
-
If you are already practicing with us and become pregnant, you can continue in your normal class up to 16 weeks. At this point we recommend moving to our foundations class but this can be discussed with your instructor when the time comes. Many of our regular clients who become pregnant continue in their normal class well beyond 16 weeks with modifications. Please let us know as soon as you know you are pregnant - we will exercise complete discretion until you are ready.

Wear comfortable clothing. Bring whatever you need to care for your baby during the class - food/ toys/ etc. It is advisable to bring a blanket to lay them down on. We will provide mats for comfort for babies to lie on.
-
During the class you can stop and care for your baby as needed. We fully expect babies to cry and need attention in this class (just as they do in every day life), so please do not worry if your baby is crying or in anyway fussy. Our instructors are also happy to support you and lend a helping hand during the class.
-
Absolutely! Whether your baby is asleep or awake, we would love to have you in. You can feed on the go and stop as and when needed to during the class. There is no pressure and absolutely no judgement.
-
We expect new mums to require a different pace of class to our regulars classes. This class will meet you where you are at and support your postpartum recovery.
-
Yes! We have plenty of space in the studios for either. Bring whichever your baby is most comfortable in.

We are happy to have any age up to pre-walking. Once they start walking, it becomes too difficult to keep them safe. Babies that are crawling are welcome and we have play pens available once they start moving.
